So Liberated Muse members were called to perfom for free for this benefit concert for Haiti and they came...check out the dope line-up. This will be a Valentine day weekend concert that will resonate deeper than your average V-day celebration. All donations at the door benefit YeleHAITI and their efforts to re-build Haiti. When Harlem Came to Paris-- Simply Divine!

When Harlem Came to Paris is the brainchild of Risikat "Kat" Okedeyi, the founder of Lil So So Productions. Okedeyi had the creative thought to imagine the Harlem Renaissance alive and kicking with some of its key players living and breathing among us as we party and socialize like its 1934. Set at the elegant Alliance Francaise De Washington , the evening was a remarkable flashback setting where everything was authentically reenacted as possible-- from the french menu to Josephine Baker's accent. Planned to perfection, the atmosphere created was stellar-- classy, fun, cordial and festive. Some DC luminaries were at the event, including Post writer Rhome Anderson, legendary vocalist Valerie "Kehembe" Eichelberger, Sherry Ways of Sankofa Doll Artistry Studio, DJ Jahsonic, and others.

The actress in me loved this event as it was a prime event to dress up, Charleston and Lindy hop while imagining being a part of the rebirth of Black arts and literature. Some of the guests at the party included the divine Josephine Baker, writers Marita Bonner and Wallace Thurman, blues great Bessie Smith and Cab Calloway, among others.

Liberated Muse member Sharon Burton was the curator of the wonderful art auction that took place during the event.

Today, Obama is Sworn in as the 44th President of the United States

Liberated Muse Productions sends congratulations to the President-Elect Barack Obama who will be sworn in today as the 44th president of the United States.

I will be watching this historic event on television. At 8:45am, the news stated that no more people were being admitted in the area to view the swearing in ceremony. People had begun showing up before 4am this morning to get space on the Mall downtown.

Bassey Ikpi Hosts Spoken Word Event Featuring Some of DC's Hottest Talent

Yesterday, Dec. 12, Wil Christian of State Farm insurance presented an early evening private function whose featured host was the incomprable Bassey Ikpi-- a renowned poet and television personality. Christian, with Liberated Muse Production co-founder Maceo Thomas, held the event at Mike Craig--The Proper Name in Men's Grooming which is an upscale spa for men located in Washington D.C.

The event attracted phenomenal artists including producer Alexei Jendayi of Fly Gypsy and poets LOVE and New Haiku.
