Liberated Muse is 'Running: AMOK' for the last show in the Capital Fringe Fest

Today is the last show of Liberated Muse's theatre production Running: AMOK in the 5th Annual Capital Fringe Fest. One audience member from last night's show, Ledia Hill, from Baltimore remarked,
"WHAT A FABULOUS PERFORMANCE!!!! ...We are so glad we saw the show. You became the characters. You took us with you. I cannot say enough.... You guys have something so special to look forward to and should be so proud and honored. Thanks for letting us know so we would not miss this event."
Sudani Scott and Lyn Artope rehearse for Running: AMOK's opening in the Capital Fringe Fest

Be sure to catch today's last show, which DC Theatre Scene calls a “…calm, confident musical performance piece..." with songs that "...are slow-burning little gems: some smoky, some bluesy, some sparkly."

Liberated Muse on WPFW w/Keanna Faircloth

As we busily promote our two events-- The Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest and our theatre production Running: AMOK, we have had wonderful opportunities to share about both events on WPFW 89.3 which is a Pacifica radio station that focuses on news from the people. Liberated Muse's Khadijah "Moon" Ali-Coleman went on Keanna Faircloth's show last Tuesday with vocalist Quineice to promote both events and this week, Liberated Muse's Maceo Thomas will be a guest on the hip-hop show The Soul Controllers with artists who will perform in this week's Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest. Be sure to turn your dial to listen and we will see you on Saturday at the festival!

You can check out Running: AMOK this week as well.

Janelle Monae Tips on the 'Tightrope' in Different Outfits

Ok, the title was necessary because of my perception of this fascination with why Janelle Monae tends to wear the same ensemble each time she performs. While I personally couldn't give a damn, apparantly, it angers a few, or, at least, just rubs them the wrong way. She addresses that very issue as she spits some verse in this "Tightrope" remix that we shared with you last month on http://www.liberatedmuse.com/. And, as you can imagine, she does it in the effortless fashion that is her MO. Janelle is one bad lady. Bad, as in good. The video is nice, with Ms.Monae striking some poses in her monochrome gear and doing her "Tightrope" dance that she makes look easier than it is. A fan of Lupe Fiasco, I was thrilled to see him featured physically as well as vocally in the vid alongside the cute newcomer B.o.B who is rocking a sailor cap cocked to the side, a fashion trend I never thought I'd see surface as a male accessory in the 21st century. But, as I learned with skinny jeans, anything is possible.

Be sure to visit http://www.liberatedmuse.com/ to listen to new tracks off of Janelle's latest drop ArchAndroid. We had an online listening party in May and may just have to do it again before http://www.liberatedmuse.com/ leaves the Ning network.  STAY TUNED!
