Mustock Festival This Weekend, Featuring Hot DC Acts

This Saturday, the MuStock Festival will take place, promising live music from some of DC's hottest acts. The roster of acts include all-girl rock funk band noon:30 and GODISHEUS headed by Head-Roc. Head-Roc has been heavily promoting the event on Facebook and calls this festival "the hottest festival with DC Indie Acts..."
Now, we are biased, because we like to think the Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest is the HOTTEST festival with soul and hip-hop acts from the DMV *smile*, but we will happily spread the word on the MuStock Festival which seems to take the spirit of Woodstock (outdoors massive area with camping allowed) one step further.
Get the full roster of acts by visiting the event's Facebook page HERE
Head-Roc encourags folks to drive down to the festival site tonite and stay overnight or stay overnight until Sunday. The event page on Facebook has more details.

Beat Ya Feet Kings on America's Best Dance Crew on MTV

Ok, we LOVE the Beat Ya Feet Kings! This DC-based dance group, managed by last month's Liberated Muse member of the month, Diallo Sumbry are a group of talented young adults (one lady is part of the group, despite the name) and have been dancing in the area for the past three years. They have wowed audiences while also serving as youth workers who have worked in schools in southeast DC, the area they hail from.

We would like to congratulate them on their upcoming tv performance on America's Best Dance Crew on MTV and want the entire Liberated Muse community to vote for them to stay on the show. Check out the video below Liberated Muse member MYST studios took on the spot when the wonderful dance crew obliged to an impromtu dance at the request of a little girl who is a big fan. Kicking For Kids Who Can't

This was something that was distributed in a recent newsletter from Kicking it for Kids Who Can't (KFKWC). KFKWC participated in our Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest and is a special event that will raise money for children who are adapting to life with limb loss. All money raised goes directly to Limbs for Life, a Non Profit Organization 501(c)3, which helps provide assistace to individuals who have suffered limb loss. Here's what they said:

2009 Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest

Saturday, July 25, 2009 brought KFKWC an opportunity to hear music, speak and have fun! From 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM, the KFKWC team set out to solicit donations, network and promote our October 11th event on the National Mall. Aside from listening to the music of up and coming artists in the DC area, the event helped us spread the word about our cause and the purpose for our existence. The sun was blazing, but it wasn't enough to stop the KFKWC team. Our hard sweat earned KFKWC $122.32, putting us a small step closer to our $50,000 goal!! Thank you Maceo Thomas (of Liberated Muse) for providing this opportunity and thank you to all who came out to support KFKWC
